"Look, Dahlia, I really like you back. I know you've got a kid on the way and I know you're struggling, but honestly, I think I would like the chance to take care of you and your kid for as long as you'll allow me to... I'm not going anywhere."

And where had she heard that before? His words were so promising and yet... she didn't believe him. From experience, Dahlia knew that guys said whatever they knew the girl wanted to hear. Anything to get in the good books and possibly in her pants but she knew that Issac wasn't saying all of that to get laid. After all, the boy already got what he had wanted out of her so there was no need to say what he did. Yet, it was still said and he couldn't exactly take it back, not now. Dahlia hated this about herself. She hated that she always had to doubt people and even more how she backed out when a situation wasn't comfortable to her and that was exactly what she did.

Dahlia felt his lips on hers and while she wanted to kiss him back she just stood there, her arms loosening from around him before she dropped her gaze to the floor. Maybe he did actually mean what he said but he had no fucking clue what he was getting himself into. Obviously, there was something wrong with her as Colton had proved. She pushed too hard on him apparently and look where it had gotten her. Luckily for Issac, she didn't just doubt him, she doubted herself. "Just... don't," she murmured softly, turning her blue eyes up to meet his. Dahlia felt like she owed him an explanation but she couldn't bring herself to call him a liar as she wanted to. She didn't want to hurt him and yet she couldn't act as if everything was fine. "Don't agree to something when you have no idea what you are getting yourself into, Issac," she said simply, wanting to leave his office but instead she walked around him and lowered herself into a seat, staring at the opposite wall while she nibbled absentmindedly on her lip.

Colton was right, Dahlia could never make things easy but how was she supposed to now? She knew how things would go. Issac would possibly stay up until she gave birth and then a month or so later he would bail. Then again, with her mood swings she'd be lucky if he even stayed that long. Did she really want to put him through that? No. She didn't want him to end up being another Colton. "Don't make any promises and don't say you won't go anywhere. You have no idea what will happen in the future or if you will want to stay with me. Fuck, Issac. We haven't even dated and already you are saying stupid shit. Don't sign your life away without reading the contract first," she stated, turning a bit in the chair to glance back at him. The last thing she wanted to do was rush the whole thing. She needed that sense of security and comfort and while it was there with Issac, it wasn't concrete. She needed all glimmers of doubt to be gone. They definitely had a lot more time and a lot more to work on. "I think I better go before someone walks in and realizes you aren't working. I'll see you later tonight." And with that she stood and walked over to him, placing a gentle kiss on his cheek.
